The Real Work
Newsletter.
Weekly. No filler. No motivation porn. From someone who had to figure it out the hard way.
No spam. One email every Tuesday. Unsubscribe any time.
As seen in Fast Company
Three things. Every week.
One framework
A system, tool, or mental model you can use the same week you read it.
One story
Something real from building a business, raising five kids, staying sober, and showing up anyway.
One move
A specific action you can take before next Tuesday.
Terry Rice.
Brooklyn. Father of five. Former Meta and Adobe. Faculty at NYU and General Assembly. Keynote speaker for Google, Amazon, EY, and Berkshire Hathaway. Sober since May 15, 2015. Still in the gym.
He writes this newsletter because he had to figure everything out the hard way. Every system, every framework, every decision, tested in real life with real stakes. Not theory. The Real Work.
"Stop building your network. Start feeding it."
I was making dinner for my 4 kids the other night. One wanted to know why the sky is blue. Another needed help with homework. The third was upset about something that happened at school. The fourth was just... loud.
Then my phone buzzed. An introduction from someone in my network. That was the second one that week.
Three people. Three different rooms. All looking out for me while I was managing chaos in the kitchen.
An introduction is not just a favor. It is a co-sign. That is not something people do lightly.
Here is what I have learned: with the time I do have, I just try to show up for my network somehow. A comment. An introduction. A text that says thinking about you.
That is how I am generating inbound leads while stirring pasta for my kids.
